Like the rest of you, we dealt with many roof repairs before finally throwing our hands up and having a 50 year roof installed.

The result has been amazing, no more problems, period and the heavier shingle has made for a very quiet home when weather is upon us.

The frustrating part is that we were told by one of the companies providing estimates to us, that during the summer of 1998, the Tamco Heritage (black to be specific) shingles used on our roof were know to have been defective. Apparently, not enough adhesive was used.

We were told, and even given the number for a representative at Tamco in Frederick, that we might recover some of the expense of the new roof due to the defective shingles. He stated however that it is normally a very involved process where the manufacturer plays the blame game with the builder and the insurance companies and in the end you may end up with very little money and very large amounts of frustration.

We chose to eat it ourselves and avoid the heartburn.

Let us know what your experience has been.

Would it be possible to learn more about your experience selecting and implementing a web-based HOA election system?

Thanks!

Regarding Roofs:

Yes, we have issues almost every year w/our roof and have spent in excess of $1,500 in repairs since we've lived in Summit Ridge. Like you, we will probably bite the bullet and replace our roof the next time we have substantial shingle loss. This year, we were somewhat lucky. The roofing company said they we need to have heavy duty shingles vs the builder grade. Sad, the homes are 10 yrs old and the roofs are shot!

Thanks for your comments. I will look into revising the weather the first chance that I get (most likely this weekend).

Just look at the water problems, traffic in and around town, and how crowded our shopping centers are. The infrastructure is not keeping up. Developers are winning the war and those who move here are losing.

I support all efforts to preserve Mount Airy's small town atmosphere. The current level of the building cap...45/year I think...ahould be the target for the council. Any development should include a comprehensive plan for infrastructure, educational and recreational facilities to support the incoming population.
