Building Cap
Posted by: site admin @ 11:29 am

The mayor recently vetoed the building cap of 130 homes per year that was passed by the Town Council.  He indicated that he supported a lower cap, and felt that the cap was too high.  The Town council will get a chance to override his veto at the next meeting.  What do you think about the development cap?  Do you agree with the Mayor?  What is the “right” amount of development for Mount Airy?

I support all efforts to preserve Mount Airy’s small town atmosphere. The current level of the building cap…45/year I think…ahould be the target for the council. Any development should include a comprehensive plan for infrastructure, educational and recreational facilities to support the incoming population.

Just look at the water problems, traffic in and around town, and how crowded our shopping centers are. The infrastructure is not keeping up. Developers are winning the war and those who move here are losing.
